My daughter Dina loves this pizza! We like to stuff the crust with mozzarella and butter the edges and sprinkle garlic salt, makes for a yummy garlic bread crust!
I like to blanch my broccoli first, I have never made it any other way, if you make it without blanching do let me know how it turned out.
What you need is:
- 1 ball of pizza dough
- mozzarella cheese
- Romano cheese grated (you can use Parmesan)
- broccoli (blanched)
- 1/2 tsp garlic salt or fresh crushed garlic
First grease pan, and sprinkle cornmeal on the pan. Take a ball of dough and spread the dough with your finger tips, and stretch gently with your hands until you form a nice circle, you can use a little olive oil to help with this.
Sprinkle with the garlic salt or garlic add the cheeses on top, then layer the broccoli around. Bake in oven till edges and bottom are golden.
For dough:
- 5 cups flour
- 2 cups warm water
- 2 and 1/4 tsp yeast
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/4 cup or less of olive oil to mix in while making dough
In the mixing bowl, add the warm water, yeast and sugar, then stir with a spoon; when it foams add the flour and start forming into dough, knead until its firm yet soft takes a few minutes.
Drizzle olive oil to prevent stickiness and it makes dough soft. Allow to rise covered in room temperature for 1 hour or more. Punch air out and its ready to use. To speed this process I fill a pot with hot tap water and allow the bowl of dough to sit in it, it keeps it warm and allows it to rise quicker.
It’s enough dough to make around 2-3 pizzas depending on the size of you pans.
