This is just one of those dishes that is easy to make and tastes great! I use frozen organic broccoli for this as the fresh broccoli is too expensive, five dollars for one bunch! Sometimes its $3.99 but even that costs too much for one small bunch of broccoli, the frozen is convenient as well, I can use how much I want and when ever I need it. You can use fresh if you have it. Continue reading “Orzo with Veggies served with Chicken and Broccoli” »
I love Chicken Shawarma sandwiches, but if your buying them for a family it can get expensive! My son will get a sandwich once and a while at his favourite Shawarma shop in town. Making it home isn’t quite the same, but its still good!
When you go to a shawarma place, you notice the meat being sliced off like Doner kebab or Gyros meat. You can get beef, lamb or chicken. I love all three, but prefer the chicken. Some places will add french fries in the sandwich while others don’t.
When I was a kid I had a friend who was Lebanese and her mom always added fries in her sandwiches…so I do the same. Continue reading “Chicken Pita Sandwich” »
Tis the season of turkey dinners…with that comes left over turkey! We had a lovely dinner, 8 dinner guests including our family of 5, and even with second servings we still ended up with leftovers! One whole side of the turkey breast untouched and a bit of dark meat mixed in with some gravy….yum:) Continue reading “Turkey Pot Pie” »
This is one of the ways I love to prepare roasted chicken, it has so much flavour, the juices makes for a great gravy or sauce. If you like you can butterfly your chicken by removing the back bone….I actually prefer roasting chicken that way…the thigh’s and legs get a nice and crispy skin that way. If you choose to butterfly your chicken, squeeze some lemon juice over the chicken and slice some lemon and lay the slices over the chicken, add the fresh herbs and seasoning over the skin.
This is a simple and fast meal, perfect for a dinner for two! My kids wanted tacos for dinner, my mom was over and she is not a big fan of tacos so we made something that was just enough for her and who ever wanted to try some. The seasoning in this is simple and the flavours I grew up with, you can add any spice or seasoning you like. Continue reading “Chicken Drumsticks and Noodles” »
I call this chicken semi- fried as I don’t fry it the whole way through. I love the taste of fried chicken….but fried greasy food does not sit well in my tummy. The way I prepare it, the oil is not being soaked up by the chicken, I use just enough oil to lightly brown the skin.
I simply brown the skin so it gets crispy and fried like texture while its baking.
So here goes to make my semi- fried chicken! Continue reading “Semi- Fried Chicken” »
Butter chicken is one of my sons favourite dishes, served with fluffy basmati rice on the side and you have an amazing dinner! Over the years I have experimented with the recipe until I found the best way of making it, below is the recipe that I have been using for the past year. I actually got the idea of adding the paprika from Misbah, a fellow food blogger cupcakeluvs she has amazing recipes!
