New Favourite Blogger Recipes!

Sharing some new recipes I found on different blogs, I decided to make a post on it as I realize sharing it on Facebook won’t reach all my readers, plus its easier for me to find it again when I need them! I love these three new recipes and thought I should have them all in one collection!

They’re all desserts and they’re all so good! Hope you enjoy one or all three of them as much as we did!

Laz Böregi Custard Pie with Filo

Laz Böregi Custard Pie with Filo

Laz Böreği in Turkish, Galaktoboureko in Greek is a dessert made with custard and filo, unlike Napoleons or  Mille-Feuille the custard is baked in the pastry. This dessert is a specialty in the region of Rize Turkey off the coast of the Black Sea, where my father in laws fathers family originates from. It has a funny name when you think about it, burek is a savoury dish, and this is a dessert! I wonder how it got its name!

In Albania my grandmother said that people would make baklava with a custard filling using milk and trahana, because the walnuts were expensive back when she was a young girl. She doesn’t remember though if it had a particular name for it, as she left Albania when she was 16.

My grandma actually made baklava with homemade filo dough, could you just imagine that! Making super thin layers of dough like that, she was a really hard working lady, and I can only imagine how delicious it was.

Lemon Pudding Frosting

Lemon Pudding Frosting

A couple months ago I tried this delicious lemon cake, the frosting was so light and fluffy, the cake was moist and and I can’t believe that I am admitting this…I ate 2 big pieces! I just love cake! Especially layered cakes, wedding cakes, birthday cakes….I just love any cake really!

Now I was on a quest to find the perfect lemon cake recipe! Well I tried a couple of times, and failed! Well it tasted fine, but I wasn’t crazy about the texture, I like moist and soft light cakes, not dense or dry cakes. So till I come up with that perfect recipe, were gonna have to make do with the frosting!

Golden Graham S'mores Treats

Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls

Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls

I finally did it! I took the time to properly measure the ingredients and wrote it out for you all! We love cinnamon rolls! One of my earliest memories is my mom baking cinnamon rolls, she learned to make them as a kid in Sweden. She would add raisins and sometimes walnuts in the filling. The thing is as I mentioned in a another post is that they would become dry quickly…it took some experimenting till I found the secret to making them soft!

Sweet Potato Casserole

Sweet Potato Casserole

We love sweet potato casseroles, and pies! I find that many recipes out there are just too sweet! Its probably why I never use to care for sweet potato casseroles, until I started to make my own!

Sweet potatoes are already sweet, so I just use 1/2 cup brown sugar for the filling, if you happen to love ‘sweet’ sweet potato casserole by all means add more sugar, this amount is enough for us!:)
