Math Cupcakes

A friend of mine asked me to make some ‘math’ cupcakes for a surprise party she was having for her math loving friend! She requested what she wanted on them, good thing too cause I wouldn’t know where to start!

In High School I had a math teacher who made me understand and look at numbers in a different way, I was no longer scared of them…..I actually began to love math!

I now know why that is, its because he loved math! He understood it and wanted everyone to understand, he had a passion and you can tell by the way he taught!

I may have made these cupcakes for her, but I dedicate these cupcakes to all the math teachers out there! The ones that encourage their students, and help them understand and fall in love with math!

Pi = 3.14

Math Cupcakes

What you will need:

  •  1 lb of fondant
  • Gel Food colouring: red, green, black and blue
  • Black edible pen
  • 24 chocolate or vanilla cupcakes
  • 3-4 cups chocolate or vanilla frosting
Bake cupcakes, cool and frost.
Roll out white fondant and cut out circles, dab a bit of water and stick to cupcake.
Divide remaining fondant in 4 and make colours.
I cut out all the shapes free hand.
For the graph take a tooth pick or a fondant tool with tip and make a graph.
I didn’t have a black edible pen, I had to get creative….I dipped a tooth pick in the black gel food colouring and wrote with it.
You will need to dap a little water on back of pieces to stick onto the circle.
Made them again for a math teacher! She wanted them for her class….isn’t that so sweet! Wish she was my math teacher! 😉

For these ones I piped out the ‘chalk’ with butter cream, and used number cut outs for 3.14.
