I love iced tea, and I love strawberries…so I thought why not combine my two favourite things! I did and it turned out wonderfully delicious! The longer the strawberries sit in the tea, the better the flavour.
If you cannot have caffeinated drinks, you can make this with Rooibos tea, I have made it with Red Berry Rooibos and it tastes great! If you are using Rooibos, you need to use 3-4 tea bags as its not as strong as regular tea.
I had some ripe strawberries that I blended and added to the iced tea, you can tell from the foam on the top part of the glasses and pitcher. You can skip that part, I thought it would give it more of a strawberry flavour, and it did, but it works well without it, as the strawberry slices infuse a lot of flavour in time.
What you will need:
- 6 cups boiling water
- 3-5 sliced strawberries
- 1-2 tea bags
- sugar or honey to sweeten
- mint if desired
Boil water, and add to glass pitcher, steep tea bag for 5 minutes, sweeten to taste. Allow to cool before adding the strawberry slices. When cooled, add in the strawberry slices and a spring of fresh mint if using. Chill and refrigerate till cold and ready to serve. Enjoy!
