One of my favourite cakes to make in the winter, its comforting and the aroma of cinnamon and apples is so inviting! So call a couple of friends over…put a pot of coffee on, and enjoy some yummy coffee cake! I am sure they will love you for it!

One thing I remember as a kid was in the fall and winter my mom would make her cinnamon rolls….the same ones she grew up making in Sweden.
My Grandfather and I just couldn’t wait for them to get out of the oven and into our mouths! He had diabetes so my mom did not use much sugar, nor iced them…but I loved them just the same!
She would fill hers with raisins and sometimes walnuts….one thing though they would become dry the next day, so with some experimenting on how to keep them from drying out and staying soft….I figured it out! The secret is yogurt!
My family loves when I make them apple pie…..thing is I like Dutch apple and my hubby likes a pie crust on top! Kids like both, so this way is perfect! Making them into individual pies makes everyone happy! I make them in a Texas muffin pan, if you don’t have one I am sure a regular muffin pan would work.
My mom lived in Holland for 7 years and 7 years in Sweden as a kid, and while she lived there she learned how to make Dutch apple pie. In Sweden they don’t use crust, its more like apple crisp here in North America. I can never make mine like hers….no matter how many times I try! But that doesn’t stop me from making it!!:) Even though she says mine taste just like hers…..I will always like hers better!:)
I love making this apple strudel, its simple and so yummy! It’s a win with children and adults alike! I usually make 2 of them since the puff pastry comes 2 in a package, plus 1 is never enough for us! If one happens to be enough for you then make half the amount of filling.
One of my favourite foods are pancakes! I just love them….breakfast, lunch or dinner it doesn’t matter when, I am always down for some yummy fluffy pancakes! My mom always made apple sauce or blueberry sauce with pancakes or french toast…I actually prefer my pancakes only with maple syrup, but my kids and hubby love it with fruit!
