In Turkish its called Cacuk (pronounced ‘gaguk’), in Albanian its called Tarator, and in Greek its called Tzatziki, in what ever language you wanna call it….its delicious! My children love it, if they don’t like whats for dinner, this is usually what I make for them!:)

 What you will need:

  • 1 large peeled cucumber
  • 2-3 cloves of grated or crushed garlic
  • 1 tbsp fresh chopped mint
  • 1 tsp dried mint
  • 1 tsp fresh chopped dill (optional)
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 2-1/2 cups of home made yogurt or store bought plain yogurt
  • salt to season

Shred cucumber, squeeze out the juices from the cucumber , otherwise it will make the yogurt watery, unless you want it watery, then don’t. Mix all ingredients adjust seasoning. Enjoy!

Tzatziki ingredients

Fresh mint from my garden and local garlic

Grate cucumber in a separate bowl and squeeze liquid out, then add to the yogurt

Great as is, or as a dip or sauce for your sandwiches!
